    Hello,
At first, i wish to thank You for purchasing our product. You're welcomed to ask for any kind of help in our section !

Since You're beginner, here is the most important set of information related to setup and functions of RIFF Box.

    - Download Installation of RIFF Box driver

Depending on Your operating system, download appropriate driver and unpack it to Your hard disk.
Connect the RIFF Box to USB port on Your PC using USB cable. Make sure to use root USB ports, (usually back side of PC) and not the HUB ports.

Windows will detect the new hardware, and request the software driver. YOu can now select driver directory where You've unpacked it.

You may need to DISABLE driver signing option in system settings.

    - Download and installation of RIFF JTAG Manager software

Download setup file and execute it. The JTAG Manager will be installed to \System Drive\Program Files\RIFF Box JTAG Manager directory. Example :
    "C:\Program Files\RIFF Box JTAG Manager\"
Quick launch and Program group icons will be installed too.

Now You can start the RIFF JTAG Manager application and download all the files which are required to use RIFF Box.
    -----
    IMPORTANT ! ! !
Windows VISTA and Windows 7 users may need to start software using administrator rights !
    -----

Switch the JTAG Manager software to "Box Service" TAB :

Now You can click "Check for updates" button. JTAG Manager will now try to access RIFF Box update server.
    ----
    IMPORTANT ! ! !
If You have firewall set, You need to allow access !
    ----
JTAG Manager will access the update server and download list of available updates:

As You can see, all available files are check by default, and queued for download. In case You don't need all the files at once, You can use right click to un select all files, and manually chose ones You need urgently. Since there is around 800MB of files currently, and this size will increase with time, You can download only files which You really need at the moment.
In that case, make sure to include latest RIFF Box firmware, and latest JTAG Manager software, together with desired device DLL! ! !
You can now click "Download Selected" and wait til process is finished :

RIFF JTAG Manager will be restarted, and in case You've downloaded new firmware, firmware update will be requested:

Now press "Yes" and wait for process to be finished.
    ----
    IMPORTANT ! ! !
In some cases You may need to install RIFF Box driver again, since update mode enumerates box with different VID&PID. In this case, update process will be stuck at "Restarting". Simply press "Stop" and reconnect box. After setting up the driver, You can press "Firmware update" button again.
    ----

Now You are ready to use RIFF Box and its software with phones or other supported devices.
    Congratulations !

How to request help with supported devices :

    - First check if Your problem is already described in any of sticky topics
    - Use SEARCH function to check if some of the users already had same problem

If none of above helps, please always open NEW THREAD, with clear, short explanation of problem, and required informations :

    - Device model, and cause of "death"
    - Logs from RIFF JTAG Manager
    - Info if Your box was tested before with another device

    DO NOT :

    - Use capital letters
    - Write anything without DETAILS

Since we have more and more users, You should understand that sometimes You'll need to wait to receive an answer from supporter, this is normal situation. There is no need to post same problem more then once.

We are building a list of useful external links, and forum topics, and this will be posted here soon.

    Thank You.

This will explain how to manually update RIFF Box firmware :

      • Start the RIFF Box JTAG Manager, and switch to "Box Service" TAB:

On this screenshot You can see that box is in "Bootcore" mode.

      • Click the three dots inside red square in order to open firmware file :

Firmware files are located in "C:\Program Files\RIFF Box JTAG Manager\Firmwares" folder. If there is no any files, You need first to perform "Check for Updates" procedure and download available files.
      • Open latest Firmware file :

      • Click "Firmware Update" button :

As You can see, full path to selected firmware is now visible in "Firmware" file box. It will be stored into Windows registry.
      • RIFF Box is now being updated. In case Box was in normal mode, it will be switched to "Bootcore" mode. You may need to install RIFF Box driver again !

      • Firmware update is now finished, and box is restarting to normal mode:

      • Now everything has been finished successfully and box has latest firmware :

i cant post a proper thread as i should (no doubt some silly forum rule about having to make countless posts before i can actually ask about my issue) now that ive had my moan heres my problem, ive tried this with both a desire z and a htc one v, the phone is detected as qualcomm msm and when i install the drivers it shows up under ports in device manager as "Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E (com110)" (the driver is installed, and i reinstalled it to be sure) but when i try to do anything in jtag manager i get:

            Open serial port...OK
            Connecting to the RIFF Box...OK
Firmware Version: 1.33, JTAG Manager Version: 1.44
Selected Resurrector: [HTC OneV (PK76100) via USB V1.0.4608.58885]

Looking for the HS-USB QDLoader Interface...ERROR
ERROR: Cannot Find Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader Interface COM Port

so how can i set the port? there doesnt seem to be an option for it in the software anywhere, ive also tried connecting the usb to the riffbox usb port rather than the computer but still the same result, what am i doing wrong here?
