  • eMMC chunk size and readout speedup

    Hello :-)

Is it possible to increase memory read/write chunk size in eMMC plugin?

The memory readout of large partitions takes several hours, is there any way to speed it up or the speed is limited by hardware/usb/tap?

Flashing via Heimdall is a lot faster, so maybe different buffering/dma technique can be applied here as well? :-)

    Thanks! :-)

Speed depends solely on device configuration.
In most QUALCOMM cpu-s, it's RPM core what handles JTAG communication, hence speed can be as low as ~70kb/s.
In theory there may be possible to write Cortex core loaders, and switch reading to USB port.

I see, thanks :-) Maybe there are known methods to use ODIN to perform flash read? ]:->

Was anyone able to make any progress on this? With a sprint galaxy s3, connected with Moorc jpin jtag easy pin w/flex cable, I get a pretty consistent read speed of non-zero data of 128 kB/s. Reading a relatively full 16gb data partition can take a full 24 hours, a normal ~1 GB system partition usually takes about 3 hours. So, from what I understand, the speed is limited by the hardware in the phone, and not the connection to and from the box? Can a UART cable be used for DCC or emmc read/write?
