worked fine once I figured out how to enter it ;-)
Ignition on
switch off unit
holding down AS button switch on unit
display shows number of attempts allowed followed by _ _ _ _
using only keys 1 to 4 enter code depressing each key multiple times for the correct number
hold down AS button for 3 seconds and radio comes on

Hi all.

I have literally had a full blown physical fight with my Blaupunkt 300 to get it out of SAFE MODE. Used the necessary clips etc to try to get to the serial numbers on the chassis, but only managed to rip the black face cleanly off. What I was left with was the steel radio still firmly placed in the dashboard, but the black plastic in my hand. Still works. Under the tape deck section though, I found the following jibberish:

Index 04 ST2SN
8635132820

Is this enough info to get the code to get my radio working again? Can anyone advise? Cheers!

Right first of all you need a small tiny alan key to get the four little grub screws out, once all four of them are out use the pins that you can get from Halfords (small ones about £4.29)or a ols metal coat hanger. to get the gmxxxxyxxxxxxx number thats stamped into the metal casing

Push them right in on each side then stick your fingers in the tape player opening and pull on the stereo

need the info off of the radio. but i think yours maybe a VDO so only if it has a security code Something like Q123, TU123, T0X123 someone maybe able to help you.

In fact a mechanic tried about a month ago, and could not do it. Pain in the a$$. I will try again. I will get the gm number, but does 8 635 132 820 resemble the other number that is needed?

Here is a video showing how to remove a standard radio from the dashboard.
Extractors can also be made from 2 pieces of bent, wire coat-hanger or 4 small drills(using the blunt end) or 4 small Allen Keys
or 4 small screwdrivers or 4 nails or even 4 darts or ****tail sticks

An assistant is useful to pull the radio out whilst you are releasing the 4
securing clips
