Saved me 20 quid anyway! Better in my pocket than Fiats.
I went to Fiat yesterday and they looked to see if the code was on their computer. I didn't see the screen but he just said it wasn't there.
Probably to con me out of 20 quid!!!
I would ask how you do it, but then that would destroy the magic!!

Hi all,
Have a slight problem.. i picked up an X reg Punto today, the seller had their own stereo in place and replaced the original one back in upon selling the car ... I have a message that says "check", now according to the manual this is an anti theft system that takes away the need to re enter the security code each time it is disconnected or power source cut... It just checks it is the correct radio and away you go..
I do have a security code for it, which the manual says enables you to use it in another car, but can't get it to a stage where I can enter it.. I even tried disconnecting the battery in the hope of getting a code message, but to no avail, just the check message again....
Any help would be very very appreciated

If you are trying to fit this radio to a different vehicle, then you may find yourself with the Error message of "CHECK". As well as having a conventional Radio Security Code number, this stereo is also electronically paired, or "Married" to the engine management system of the vehicle it came out of using very sophisticated CAN-BUS system technology.
When it is first powered up, it will communicate with the vehicle, and a message of "WAIT" may appear on the display whilst this process is in operation. If communication has been successfull, it will prompt for the Code number to be entered in the normal way.
However, if removed and refitted into a different vehicle other than the original one, it will not recognise the encrypted CANBUS identification of the new car, and will instead display an error message of "CHECK".
This Radio cannot therefore be transferred from one car to another, unless it has first been reset back into its original "Delivery Mode" with the CAN-BUS data memory reprogrammed for use with the new vehicle.
