Grundig code, radio stays in safe mode

I have the code but I cannot get the safe mode to go away. I have held in the program button/pty on my Alana grundig radio. Please help

Please note that code entry is only possible with the ignition switched on, and when "1000" is shown in the display. If the display continually shows "SAFE" then the unit may be codelocked and will need to be left switched on up for up to two hours to reset before another code entry attempt is possible.

Code Entry as Follows:

Switch ON the Ignition (No need to start car)
Switch Radio On - Display Shows
" SAFE " and then shows " 1000 "
(This may take up to 10 Seconds - be patient)
Press preset " 1 " repeatedly for 1st Digit
Press preset " 2 " repeatedly for 2nd Digit
Press preset " 3 " repeatedly for 3rd Digit
Press preset " 4 " repeatedly for 4th Digit
If the correct code number is now shown
Press " SCAN " To Enter

Unlocking the radio from codelock, safe mode

So wat do I do after I left the radio on for 2 hours to try and get it out of codelock mode, does it jst change to "1000" on its own or do I have to do something after the 2 hours elapse?

change to "1000" on its own it may take longer than two hours
