  • Citreon Xsara Picasso stereo code

    Hello,

I purchased a replacement factory stereo from a scrapped Xsara for my Xsara. It fitted and works fine but there is this annoying loud beep that comes on every few seconds. I have tried the disconecting battery to reset but to no avail. Not sure if I need to enter a code or what. Bar codes read, Model no 22RC290/35 TOZ941 Product no FDO602190172457. Other details on label are VDO RD3-00 VDACLF20172457 then REF.CITREON: 96 475 709 ZLOO and finally VDLO172457. Any help or code would be greatly accepted as I dont have a clue. Kind regards. Mike

This stereo is often referred to as a "Married" or "VIN CODED" radio, as it does not have a normal security Code number, but is instead electronically paired to the engine management system of the vehicle it came out of, and as such cannot be easily transferred from vehicle to vehicle, even if it is the same model of Car.

When it is first powered up, it will communicate with the vehicle, and if this has been successfull, it will switch on and function in the normal way.

However, if removed and refitted into a different vehicle other than the original one, it will not recognise the encrypted identification of the new car, and you may find that the radio may not power up at all, or if it does, you may find yourself with an irritating beep every few seconds over the sound of the radio.

Reprogramming of this unit is very complex, and because the stereo has to be programmed to the VIN Number of your car,

      Many thanks

Many thanks for the info. Had a feeling that it wasnt going to be a simple solution. Will just have to put an aftermarket stereo in its place as just been quoted £45 by Citreon to marry up to vin no, and even then they said it might not work. Kind regards. Mike

A Radio Decoding Service will normally be cheaper..Expect to pay around £20 / £25

Your radio is made by CLARION and the only CLARION code that can be calculated (using a serial number ) anywhere on the Internet is if your radio also has a BARCODE SERIAL NUMBER beginning with C 7000000 + + + + on a separate label somewhere on the metal casing.
            (Note ...not beginning with CL.)

If not then it will only be available from your Main Dealer or a Decoding Service or your local Car Radio / Audio Store who will connect a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM) inside your radio.

                    Hi.
1355 is the correct code for the numbers quoted so check your numbers again. If correct then it looks as though your radio may have been recoded to a different number. If so, you better visit your local center for unlocking your radio!

1...1355 is the correct code for PHACDFW8012211

If this does not work (and your quoted Serial Number is correct ) then your radio may have been recoded.

This will now be a job for a Radio Decoding Service.

2...Multi-Posting the same request on any Forum is not necessary, time-wasting and annoying.

Your second number makes no difference

You have been given the corrrect code.

Your radio has most likely been recoded to another number.

It will have to be taken into a Radio Decoding Service to be decoded/recoded.
