phillips radio 400 in safe mode

I have tried all the usual things hold AS button turn radio on still wont let me in to enter code anybody any ideas.???????

Procedure is:
Turn ignition key on - so as battery light showing.
Press and hold 'AS' button, then press 'power button' of radio
Radio/display should briefly show 'SAFE', then '10 ----' - (if my memory serves me right)

What does your radio show?

it would not work when i tried what you and all the books said to do
it just remained in safe mode, i know it should have. But what did fix it
was to leave radio on turn of ignition hold AS and then turn on ignition
with radio comming on as ignition switched dont know why it did but it fixed it.
