Megane 2005 radio code problem

Hi everyone,

I have a curious problem - I have a radio in my Megane which I have bought 2 years ago which requires me to enter the security code after some repair when the battery has been disconnected. The number on the radio is FD0605470376229 I also have the security code (7186) but it is not working.

I've been to Renault and they say the only reason why it doesn't work is that the radio has been replaced (which it wasn't) and do want £20 for the code to be "fixed" plus a lot of documents which is a pain (especially because the dealership is not exactly close).

Could you please have a look what the security code should be ?

If you need more information I can provide it on demand.

hi post the numbers/letters from below the main fat barcode
something like 7700xxxxxxt123 or 8200xxxxtt123 or
the security code like Q123 or T0U123

You must hold at the end to store your code.
IF YOU DONT HAVE ¬ KEY THEN PUSH THUMBWHEEL IN AND SOME HAVE {A¬} KEY

Turn on the radio and the display will show 'CODE'
Use the steering controls for code entry.
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct first digit
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct second digit
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct third digit
Press the [ ¬] button then rotate the thumb wheel for the correct fourth digit
If the correct code is now shown on screen,
press and hold the [ ¬] button for up to 10 seconds to store the code

FOR NO STEERING CONTROL
press the first preset button for the 1st digit,
second button for the 2nd digit
third button for 3rd digit
forth button for 4th digit
then press and HOLD button 6 to store. for 10 seconds

and on some it's hold 5 to store

Please note that code entry is only possible when a number is flashing in the seperate display. If the display continually shows "CODE" then the unit may be codelocked and will need to be left switched on up for up to two hours to reset before another code entry attempt is possible

That is basically what I did - but when I press 6 for confirming the code it makes a loud beep - which I thought is a sign of some error / not accepting the code but maybe I just need to press the button for longer...

Anyway thank you all for your help - I will let you know about my porgress

OK I see the problem now - I was doing it right but for some reason all manuals and everything says pres 5 to confirm but obviously I needed to press & hold the 6 key... Anyway thanks a lot for everything.
