Can anyone help?!

I'm struggling with the Alpine single tape unit in a 2001 Jaguar X-Type. It is now just saying Please Wait. When the 30 mins is up I cannot get in even using the >> PTY A.MEM trick.

Leave it switched on (uninterrupted) for longer than 30 minutes ( say an hour or two or longer ) to see if the display changes
