I've finally managed to get the radio out (the keys seem to be stuck though) and the serial number is M238673
So, if anyone can find me the code, I'd appreciate it.

The serial number is the last numbers of the Vehicle ID which shows up when I switch the radio on.
I've tried to find another M number using the suggested method of pressing 6 & 1 or 6 & 2 but that just results in a sound test for the speakers.
Any suggestions as to how I can obtain the correct serial number?

you are missing a digit,

The serial number is the last numbers of the Vehicle ID which shows up when I switch the radio on.
I've tried to find another M number using the suggested method of pressing 6 & 1 or 6 & 2 but that just results in a sound test for the speakers.

New starter motor means the radio is asking for a code.
I think the serial is M54782. ( here Ex; M123456 )

Any help would be much appreciated.
