Mercedes audio 10 cd code

Hi there. Battery has been replaced on my merc e320 cdi and radio now asking for radio code. Serial number is AL291010543768.

I contacted mercedes in sheffield who supplied me with a code of 12344 - when I enter this the stereo hangs on wait.

Have also tried the radio-code-it site online which returns a different code of 62641. This does not work and returns you to enter the code from scratch.

Any further ideas? I am determined not to have an aftermarket stereo which I think ruins the car being original. My plan b is to buy a new audio 10 cd on ebay.
