  • Blue screen and error14 - solution inside!

    Hi everyone!

In the spirit of sharing, I present you all the solution for the infamous blue screen/error 14 problem that usually appears after LCD changing or just disassembling iPhone 5S board.
Is NOT an easy fixing, so don’t even think to start if you are not an experienced technician!

As you can see in the pictures, mixing the screws will destroy the lines in the second layer of the board. Start by removing the nut (if is not already snapped out) and CAREFULLY scratch out the first layer until you see the lines. Of course you will need one good microscope, extremely sharp tools and steady hands. Again, is not an easy job!

Next step is to expose the lines and rebuild the broken ones. You can use a very thin wire (like the one from phone speaker/buzzer coil) or you can use some solder if the gap is not too big. One bad move and you will destroy more, so take care!
I had just one case with just one damaged line by the longer screw, most of the time I had to rebuild 3-5 lines out of the 7 there.
You can see in the pictures 3 cases of affected lines and how is suppose to look a good board. I did not have more time to trace down the lines, maybe I will find out an easy “surface jumper”, but whoever have a bare_board can try to trace that lines.

It took me some real time and countless beers, so feel free to use that donation button, especially if I saved your ass...

Of course, everything was, is and will be ©powered by oblio

P.S. I was banned on gsmh0sting because i tried to buy some boards for developing this solution, so they have to wait until 14-08-14, 11:00 for this solution to be posted there
