RIFF Box without adapter? (jumper cables)

Is it possible to use the RIFF Box without an adapter but plugging female jumper cables directely into the relevant pins in the JTAG port on the RIFF Box? I don't see why not but asking anyway just to be sure.

Of course it can work that way, but having adapter board makes things easier.
