  • Riff Box 2 eMMC Problem untouched Box (E-Mate X 13in1)

    Open serial port...OK
    Connecting to the RIFF Box...OK
Firmware Version: 1.53 (RIFFBOX2), JTAG Manager Version: 1.87
    Selected Manual Mode: [eMMC/SD & GPIO, 34 MHz, 1 Bit Bus Width (DAT0), 1.80V]

    Connecting to the SD/eMMC Card...ERROR
Set I/O Voltage reads as 1.80V, SD_CLK Frequency is 34 MHz

Connecting to the SD/eMMC Card Failed (ERR[006E], POS[0003])

    Hello,
i have the same Problem, with Riff Box2

I tried first direct EMMC method with soldering, short lines to the EMMC. (BGA163)
I played with the Voltage and the Clock Frequency, nothing works.

So now i buyed the E-Mate X Adapter, same Chip same ERROR.
Now i thinks whats going on with this Sh**. EMMC faulty?

Okay i go to my trashbox, other Tablet (Lenovo )EMMC desolderd and cleaned (BGA221)

Put it into the E-Mate X Adapter. (before i changed the adapter to BGA221)
Same ERROR (Connecting to the SD/eMMC Card Failed (ERR[006E], POS[0003]) )
Her i played also with the Voltage and the Frequency in Direct EMMC Tab.

    My Setup is "PC---->USB-Cable---->Riff Box2---->White Riff2 Adapter---->E-Mate X" Like the Picture but with E-Mate X

So now i have no idea, where the Problem is.
I have the Riff Box 2 since release but never workt with it.
Any Ideas? And THX for answer.

This is how You should connect emate-x adapter to RIFF Box v2. This is back port, adapter connector shifted to right side.

To get chip detected, it should be reballed (i havent managed to read chip without balls). Of course, You also need to insert chip properly and connect corresponding grid connector. Board with socket has 4 connectors.

Other thing is, it's important to connect corresponding connector on adapter and chip needs to be oriented properly.
      Thanks for answer Legija.
      I have some more questions.
The BGA Adapter is the new Red E-MateX 13in1
So it is better if the Chip has tiny balls, like reballing without stencil for connection? (No experiance with Chip off reading) <---- Reball the IC
Point of Chip (Pad1?) to Arrow at E-MateX is right i think.

"Okay connect without the RC2000 Adapter, on the right side of the Backport." <--- Thats confirmed with the Picture
Fun Fact the Socket is so big like the JTAG Port, without Manual no one knows where to place.

In the Package of EMate X are Three "Socket Adapters" where i can Place the upper Part.
      Medusa EMMC
      UFI EMMC
EASY EMMC <---- This is the right one for Riff2
Which one is the right, for Riff Box 2? Sorry maybe easy dumb question.

      And last but not least.
I read about a modification with Pull up resistor (100Ohm - 4,7k) and some jumpers and removing resistor and cutting lines,
is this modification needed, to work with Riff2 Direct eMMC?
My Box is maybe from 2016, never used and untouched.

Thats all make me a little bit crazy,
my first trys (few months ago) with soldered wires was 100% soldered to the RC2000.
But its done so no important.

      Best regards

          Not really
It stays on it like i wrote.
But i think its the Easy Adapter.
          Here the Picture:

So the other thinks / changes at the Box Layout are not important for Direct eMMC?

              Hello,
today i tryed it again. E-MateX in Backport right side.
              First i reballed my 2 test emmc's
One is BGA221 and the other BGA153
First i used the BGA221, the Box makes a disconnect sound and i see the 5V and 4.2V LED is permanently on.

              So second try BGA153
              E-Mate changed to BGA153
EMMC right placed and connected the E-Mate to Riff Box2.
              Press read EMMC / SD

              Open serial port...OK
              Connecting to the RIFF Box...OK
Firmware Version: 1.53 (RIFFBOX2), JTAG Manager Version: 1.87
              Selected Manual Mode: [eMMC/SD & GPIO, 17 MHz, 1 Bit Bus Width (DAT0), 2.80V]

              Connecting to the SD/eMMC Card...ERROR
Set I/O Voltage reads as 2.79V, SD_CLK Frequency is 17 MHz

Connecting to the SD/eMMC Card Failed (ERR[006E], POS[0003])
I changed the volatges and the Frequency, nothing changed

Also i tyed to read with 4bit BUS.

              The Box is from Aug2016

                So now a new Funfact.
iturned the IC to the Wrong side (Point not matched with the Arrow "180° turned")
                And it reads....The BGA221

                Open serial port...OK
                Connecting to the RIFF Box...OK
Firmware Version: 1.53 (RIFFBOX2), JTAG Manager Version: 1.87
                Selected Package: [DEXP NS210 V1.07 by <legija>, <eMMC/SD & GPIO>, 1 Bit Bus Width (DAT0)]

                Connecting to the SD/eMMC Card...OK
WARNING: Embedded I/O Voltage is overriden to 2.80V
Set I/O Voltage reads as 2.79V, SD_CLK Frequency is 34 MHz

Detected eMMC Chip, ID: 0x15/0x00 (Q4Z3MB), User Area Partition = 0x000747C00000 Bytes (29.12 GB)

Reading "User Area Partition" address space from 0x000000000000 to 0x000747BFFFFF
                What a Bullshit :/ (E-Mate)

                Now last Question:
Read the User Area shows in the lower right side over 8 Houers after 10min 0% readed,
                is this normal?
