Can't unlock my gf's corsa with code

I'm new to any type of forum but maybe someone can help me as I fitted a new battery and lost my radio code.
It's a Vauxhall Siemens VDO CDR 500

OK I have just found another code in an envelope, but it doesn't seem to let me enter anything in, do I have to wait between the times that I enter the codes?

First remove the radio from the dashboard. Then post the radio make+model plus all the letters+numbers on any labels,barcodes or stamped in the metal casing. This information can then be used to see if a code can be calculated

My gf's just had the battery changed on her corsa and the radio came up with safe. I've been reading about how to unlock the radio with the code that was on a little car pass card. The radio code on the card looks to be either underlined or the line goes through it a bit, either way the code doesn't work. Has the code been changed and how will I know what the new code will be? I'm a bit stumped on this, any help would be great.
