  • How to make USB Monitor log for MTK support

    Hello,

These are the instructions for users who want to help adding new MTK based devices support.
Since we write own code and not just use spft command line options (not as versatile as we need) and due to limited availability of samples, we will appreciate any user who can contribute by making USB port logs and upload here.
We DO NOT need devices based on following MCU-s:
    MT6572, MT6589, MT6580, MT6582.
    Requirements:

    1. MTK Based device, with SPFT firmware and working loader.
    MT6592, MT6735 etc

    2. HHD USB Monitor (Device Monitoring Studio)
    3. SP Flash Tool
    4. RIFF Box
    5. Make new folder for log files, and in this folder another for Brand/Model You have. For example "C:\Logs\Xiaomi\Note 1w"

After installing Device Monitoring Studio, prepare phone and start SP Flash tool, load scatter file and select loader.

Start Device Monitoring studio, and on first dialog select USB-> Next Connected device. (Double click)

    --
Double click "URB View" and click "Start":

    ---

Now, switch SPFT to "Read" TAB, click "Add" and "Read" (leave default entered values)

    --

Now connect powered off phone and wait for operation to finish.

After SPFT finish reading process, click "Help -> Open log folder", sort folders by time and open newest one:

    Copy "BROM_DLL_V5.log" to Brand/Model folder.

Close SPFT and on Device Monitoring Studio switch to "Complete" tab, scroll back to start and right click on window to export log in HTML format:
    -

Select logs folder which You created earlier, and name the file, for example "xiaomi_note_1w_MT6592_SPFT_read0x0".
    -

Now You have two log files, compress them using zip or winrar and upload here and send directly via QQ.

Nice work Legija, I'm also building a tool for working with mediatek devices.
Nice to see that I was on the right track (with device monitoring studio), although in the end I ended up using Mediatek's lib. After all, all other gsm tools use their library(except miracle box), I figured I'd save time and not re-invent the wheel.

I do have some logs though. I was trying to find out how to initialize and communicate with the DA. They are from the readback option when you choose from miracle readflash the you choose the partitions you want. I didn't go beyond this since I wasn't intrested in the readback process.
If they can be of use tell me and I can send them over.
I extracted from vfd320 an mt6580 and a couple of other devices.
