I followed the online help regarding activation. All the files are on my usb drive however when i press enter at the YES prompt for activation on the box it displays "Reading USB..." and nothing else happens. I can't update the firmware either i also get the same "Reading USB ..." prompt and nothing. Is my box faulty or am i doing something wrong?

Hello,
Your USB Flash disk is not compatible with Ultima Box. You will have to try another one (possibly 2~3 diferent models).

I thought that may have been the problem so i tried three different models so far, some one of them was not even recognised by the box. I will try some more and keep you posted. Thanks

It would have been alot better if you made note of the compatibility issues on you webpage or documentation for the box. The only brand of the flash drives you listed which is readily available to me here in Jamaica is the Kingston. I will borrow one from a friend tomorrow and verify. I am really looking forword to getting this box working.

Try this:
Install all scripts to hard disk. There will be "Motorola" folder created.
Then just copy this folder to Your USB Drive.

I guess my bumb question here is what makes certain flash drives work and some not too. I went out and spent good money on a SONY microvault and of course it didn't work!

Because maybe the drivers or the flash memory is not supported by Ultima OS. But Legija has the concrete answer.
My opinion is that this is a first box concept. It's future of clips I think and maybe as some other things has some restrictions.

@ jules_hu
you can see your usb stick as hard drive ?
your driver for stick is corectly displayed in device manager without conflict?.
try microsoft update when you install driver.
for me in XP driver install automatical,in win2000 work fine after microsoft update.
try orther usb bay in computer is you have more.
for me frontal bay don't work with usb stick.
work fine with other devices
download ubox client and conect to server.
download script from server, and with iserted usb-stick install script.
ubox client create folder in usb-stick and install script.
and for ultima try other power supply(original is no so good):)
supply must be 5v 1a(stabilisated),may be solve your problem with stick adn ultima box.
